New Feature: Ligatures

📅 June 26, 2012

IcoMoon App was updated to allow making ligatures. This means that you can now use a set of letters (instead of one), for the encoding of each icon/glyph. Ligatures are not supported in IE 9 (and older). But IE 10 and other modern browsers support it. You can learn more about this OpenType font feature here.

95 New Icons

📅 June 17, 2012

95 new icons were added to the paid version of IcoMoon. This package was also updated to include PDF and AI files, both of which contain all the icons. That can be useful in case you need to have access to all the icons in one place.

Free Icon Set Now Features 300 Icons

📅 May 9, 2012

The free version of IcoMoon has been updated with a lot of new icons! This package now features 300 icons and it is available on github. All these icons are now loaded to the IcoMoon App by default. You may also use the import button to load the SVG font included in the package.

122 New Icons + New Feature

📅 May 8, 2012

122 New icons were added to the premium version of IcoMoon.

New Feature: The IcoMoon App has been updated to do the font conversion for you! You no longer need to convert your fonts manually.

Huge Update!

📅 April 9, 2012

It's been a while since the last update to IcoMoon. This is because I have been busy developing a whole new version of the font generator. A lot of IcoMoon users had asked for an option for importing their own vectors. This was a little challenging but I did it! IcoMoon now provides an online HTML5 application which you can access here:

https://icomoon.io/app

Note: If you are a premium user, you can import the file called IcoMoon Font.svg into this application. You will have access to all the icons and that smiley guy on top will start smiling at you!

Make sure you read the documentation to learn more about this app.

Other than this big update, I also went through each and every single one of the 500 icons and optimized them based on a 16 by 16 grid. The design grid is included in each SVG image. So you can see how precisely these icons are designed. This grid helps with modifying the icons too. (You may want to lock its layer when editing.)

This update does not feature any new icons; but now that the new version of IcoMoon is out, I will have time to get back to making more of the requested icons!

88 New Icons Added

📅 February 12, 2012

  • The full version of IcoMoon was updated with 88 new icons.
  • Price options added to the purchase page.

All of these icons are designed based on a 16×16 grid.

Free Version Updated

📅 January 24, 2012

The free version of IcoMoon has been updated to include all the social media icons. 85 vector icons, along with the font generator are available in this free (CC Licensed) package.

62 New Icons & Custom Shapes for Photoshop

📅 January 22, 2012

  • 62 icons added to the full version
  • Photoshop Custom Shapes file added
  • These icons were improved based on a 16×16 grid: Clipboard, Tag2, Tag3, Keyboard, Clubs, List, List2, Calculator2, Gamepad2

40 New Icons Added

📅 January 6, 2012

  • 40 new icons have been added to the full version of IcoMoon.
  • The font generator has been updated to allow loading a previously generated font.

There have been many good icon suggestions that didn’t make it into this update. The next update will most likely include them.

A lot of the users have requested an option for adding their own icons. This feature would be a little challenging to implement but I’m working on it.

Added an option for better screen reader compatibility

📅 December 16, 2011

IcoMoon's font generator has been updated to allow you to assign your icons to a special block of Unicode called “Supplementary Private Use Area A”. Using this option, your icon fonts will be fully compatible with screen readers and therefore, your CSS-generated content won't be read. Watch a 45s video demo, showing Apple's VoiceOver in action.

compatible with screen readers

With this update, IcoMoon is the first, and currently the only icon font that is fully compatible with screen readers.
